Think On These Things ~ John 21
After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way.
Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.”
He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.
That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.
The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off.
When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread.
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.”
So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn.
Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.
Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.
This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.”
(This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.”
Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?”
When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”
Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!”
So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”
This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
Think On These Things
The LORD Answers Job
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
Dress for action like a man;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
On what were its bases sunk,
or who laid its cornerstone,
when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
“Or who shut in the sea with doors
when it burst out from the womb, when I made clouds its garment
and thick darkness its swaddling band,
and prescribed limits for it
and set bars and doors,
and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther,
and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?
“Have you commanded the morning since your days began,
and caused the dawn to know its place,
that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth,
and the wicked be shaken out of it?
It is changed like clay under the seal,
and its features stand out like a garment.
From the wicked their light is withheld,
and their uplifted arm is broken.
“Have you entered into the springs of the sea,
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been revealed to you,
or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?
Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?
Declare, if you know all this.

I Live In Paradise
Or at least within driving distance.
Apparently lots of people agree with me.
But can you blame us?
Somebody lost a beach ball.
Since Sarah got her paddle board this weekend for her 21st birthday you can bet we will be out in paradise as much as the weather will allow.
Saturday At The Beach
Florida weather is pretty unpredictable. In the span of a week we’ve had rain, freezing temperatures, and then a glorious mild weekend.
What’s one to do but go to the beach whenever one has the chance?
It was a little cool but so worth the cold feet.
Our Weekend
Autumn is my most favorite time of the year but I do so enjoy days like this…
With treasures from the sea…
Along shores that look like this…
After exercise on beautiful days on sidewalks…
And getting to meet pen pals in person…
We even had a surprise half birthday party for a sweet friend and ended it all with a peaceful evening at home. Which enabled me to get this week’s picture in time to actually be current in the weekly photography group I participate in.
All in all it was a really nice weekend.
I hope yours was as well.
Are You Tired Of Them Yet?
My constant stream of beach pictures, I mean. I know there have been a lot of them but the weather has been perfect for beach days this week of our spring break and I am so grateful!
The only thing that could have made it more perfect was my beloved being in town and Sarah being able to join us more frequently. It’s been weird adjusting to her having a job while the other kids are all home. It’s a strange new season having a grown up child.
Today and tomorrow are full of things like taking our turn to clean the church, grocery shopping, someone taking the test to get their learner’s permit, and a shower for a sweet bride to be so no more trips to the beach for a while.
But oh, yesterday was glorious and we had so much fun with our friends!
Abby ~ Part One
There are times when my camera feels like a magic wand in my hands.
I always love taking pictures. Whether it’s families, or children or even the head shots I’ve been doing recently. Capturing certain moments…helping preserve moments and events in someone’s life…that is just an incredibly amazing thing to be a part of.
But sometimes.
Sometimes, I am surprised and amazed when something I see in my head becomes a reality on the back of my camera.
Sometimes I am startled when it all just comes together and the vision finds expression so perfectly that I want to dance I’m so happy.
It is an incredible feeling however fleeting it may be.
Back in January Abby and I spent some time together one late afternoon and in was one of those magical moments. Rarely have I been as proud of personal work as I am of the images from that day. I’m going to be sharing them over the next several weeks and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
I came across this quote by CS Lewis and it just seemed to fit so perfectly.
I can’t wait to share some more with you!
DPP ~ Day Eleven
A lovely visit to the beach with a sweet friend today to say farewell to a favorite restaurant. (The first image is for DPP and the second is to commemorate the local business that will be shutting it’s doors at the end of the month.)
Friday Favorites
Have you ever gone to the beach and watched the sun set?
It happens so fast! And the whole sky changes dramatically from one moment to the next.
This image was taken at 6:19pm on Sunday. The sky was an amazing red color and just gorgeous.
I took this one seven minutes later at 6:26pm. The fire in the sky had become a gentle dusk blue.
Both of these are straight out of the camera with only a little bump in exposure on the bottom one to see Claire’s sweet profile a little better.
The lesson to be learned here?
Life can change fast. No matter what moment you are in the next is bound to be different.
